DECORAH -- A jury convicted a 73-year-old man of five counts of third-degree sexual abuse.
Frank R. Dotseth of Decorah faces up to 50 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for 10 a.m. March 4 in the Winneshiek County Courthouse.
Dotseth's trial began Jan. 16. Jurors reached their verdict Jan. 24.
Dotseth has 45 days to file a motion for a new trial and a motion in arrest of judgment.
According to court records, Dotseth sexually abused a 13-year-old girl in August, September or October of 2006.
Third-degree sexual abuse is a Class C felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Because the crime is a forcible felony, the prison sentence can neither be suspended nor deferred, according to County Attorney Andy Van Der Maaten.
The Iowa Department of Correctional Services will prepare a presentence investigation report.
