WEST UNION - A Mason City resident is facing prosecution for felony possession of a controlled substance and additional drug-related charges.
A Fayette County deputy on Friday stopped a vehicle driven by Mark Fridley, 43, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 18 and Iowa Highway 150. The officer observed a marijuana pipe in the car and alleges Fridley had marijuana in his possession, according to the Fayette County sheriff's office.
Fridley is charged with a Class D felony. He was also charged with failure to obey a stop sign, fraudulent use of plates, failure to prove security against liability and driving while license barred.
In an unrelated incident, the sheriff's office responded to a fight Saturday at Prairie View Residential Care facility in Fayette.
As a result, authorities arrested Bishop Barnes, 20, for simple assault for allegedly assaulting another resident.
