WATERLOO - Police are investigating a home invasion robbery early today and similar attempt on a neighboring home Wednesday night.

Police were called to 533 Reed St. at 4:38 a.m.

Police said two black males wearing hoods and bandanas over their faces forced their way into the residence. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun and the other with a baseball bat.

They demanded money from the residents, Wesley Payne amd Marcus Hughes, and the two fled. No injuries were reported.

At 10:55 p.m. Wednesday, police received a similar report from a resident at 517 Reed St.

In that case, police said two males wearing scarves over their faces tried to force their way into that home. When the resident, Christopher Tatum, answered the knock at the door, the two attempted to gain entry. Tatum was able to slam the door shut and the suspects fled.
