WATERLOO - A high school student has been detained for allegedly taking another student's lunch money.

Waterloo police took Jacob Lloyd Adelmund, 15, of 2133 Logan Ave., into custody Tuesday for extortion.

According to the police report, officers learned the victim, a 15-year-old East High School student, had been giving Adelmund his extra lunch money for about a month.

He told officers Adelmund had told him he would get beaten up if he didn't hand over the money, the report states.

Adelmund admitted getting money from the other student but said the victim gave him the cash for no reason, records state.

School officials suspended Adelmund for five days for bullying, according to the report.

Extortion is a felony charge.

Also on Tuesday, Waterloo police took two other teens into custody for second-degree robbery in an unrelated incident.

Josey Rovell Nesby, 15, of 119 St. Albans St., and Leland Deshawn Bell, 15, of 120 Lincoln St., were detained over allegations they pushed a 12-year-old boy outside the Waterloo Public Library and took his bike.

Second-degree robbery also is a felony.

All those detained were released to the custody of their parents.
