WATERLOO - A 9-year-old boy suffered severe injuries in a van-bicycle accident in Waterloo Sunday night.
Jonathan Kargus of 1210 W. Third St., was flown to University Hospitals in Iowa City with incapacitating injuries, police said.
The accident took place about 8:40 p.m. at the intersection of West Third and Baltimore streets.
Police said that the boy was riding a bicycle west on Baltimore Street when he collided with a van driven by Frank Backes, 62, of 209 W. Fifth St., Apt. 314.
Backes was northbound on West Third Street and had the right of way, police said.
No citations were issued.
