WATERLOO - American Red Cross Hawkeye Chapter volunteers headed for San Antonio, Texas Thursday to help with Hurricane Ike relief efforts.

Jim and Janice Ahlhelm of Evansdale left Thursday from The Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids for San Antonio, where they will assist with sheltering, feeding and additional work for those displaced from their homes.

Currently, nearly 20 Red Cross trained disaster volunteers from Eastern Iowa are assisting with hurricane relief.
