WATERLOO - An Evansdale man faces first-degree burglary charges after allegedly entering a home last week and assaulting a woman inside.

Tabetha Heasley told officers Jeremiah Charles Grigg, 27, of 515 Truman Ave., climbed onto the roof of her porch at 429 Center St., then pulled their child through the window and onto the roof. Heasley pulled the child back inside the home and Grigg followed her in through the window, despite her attempts to get him to leave.

Grigg then allegedly threw Heasley, who was holding the child, whose age was not provided, onto the bed and used his elbow to hold down the child while physically assaulting Heasley.

Heasley said she tried to call 911, but Grigg pulled the phone from her hand before leaving.

Grigg was charged with first-degree burglary, third-offense domestic assault, child endangerment non-serious, obstruction of an emergency phone call and violation of a no-contact order.
