WATERLOO - A man died in a traffic accident on the outskirts of town shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The name of the deceased and the other driver weren't available at press time.

According to deputies with the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office, a Chevrolet S10 pickup was headed south on North Elk Run Road and stopped at the Donald Street stop sign.

It then pulled out in front of a westbound Chevrolet Silverado pickup, and the two vehicles collided.

Both were taken to Allen Hospital, and one later died. The other is being treated for injuries.
