Officials with the Wapello County sheriff's office say the arrests followed an investigation into burglaries of two homes along the river north of Ottumwa on June 15.

Officials say the seven had to be rescued after their boat capsized. The rescue involved the sheriff's office and the Ottumwa Fire Department, which lost a boat in the operation.

Those charged include James Harland, Jennifer Utterback, Samul Kitterman, Amber Utterback, David Richards, Antonio Jiminez and Cheri Richards, all of Ottumwa.

Each has been charged with two counts of burglary. All have been released from jail.
