Waterloo dog dodges bullet, ends up in pound

WATERLOO - A Waterloo man was cited after he tried to free his dog when it was detained by Animal Control officers Sunday.

A Waterloo police officer earlier shot a handgun at the dog when it rushed officers investigating a bite complaint.

Police cited Kevin Bradley Jaramillo, 27, of 626 Lincoln St., for interference.

According to the police report, officers received a complaint the dog bit a 56-year-old man and approached Jaramillo's house at about 8 p.m.

The dog was in the backyard and charged at police. One officer fired a single shot at the dog, missing it, said Capt. John Beckman. The dog retreated, and the owner and Animal Control officers showed up shortly after.

Animal Control workers captured the dog, and Jaramillo was arrested when he tried to free it, according to the incident report.
