WATERLOO - The Black Hawk County Health Department will present on Wednesday the results of a study examining the potential health effects if a coal plant is built in the area.
The public meeting will begin at 7:45 a.m. at the Schoitz Room in the Waterloo Center for the Arts, 225 Commercial St. Citizens may make comments on the study.
The study also surveyed other health departments in the country to examine the best public health response to a plant built in Waterloo.
William Stigliani conducted the study, entitled "Human Health Effects of Emissions on Particulate Matter and Recommended Functional Role of Public Health in Black Hawk County."
He is director of University of Northern Iowa's Center for Energy and Environmental Education, but worked on the study as a private consultant.
