ROCHESTER, Minn. - Don Bosco of Gilbertville recorded pins in the final seven matches of its 55-15 victory over Luxemburg-Casco of Wisconsin in its opener at the Clash National High School Duals Friday.
The Dons had eight falls altogether as Brandon Welter (112), Bart Reiter (135), Josh Becker (140), Vance Ortner (145), Clay Welter (152), Luke Breuer (160), Taylor Kettman (171) and Jake Thome (189) all joined the pin party.
Don Bosco lost three of the first five matches, but won eight of the last nine to advance. The Dons are wrestling without injured Ben McMahon, who was fourth in Class 1A last spring at 119.
2A's top-ranked squad Ballard of Huxley steamrolled past Kasson-Mantorville in its first dual, while Christiansburg (Virginia) with former Don Daryl Weber coaching, moved past Plainville-Elgin-Millville of Minnesota to keep the possibility of meeting the Dons later tonight in the Bracket C final.
