ELDORA, Iowa (AP) - A man has been charged with killing his wife and setting the couple's Eldora home on fire, authorities said.

Jess Cuevas was arrested Friday at his Des Moines residence and transported to the Hardin County Jail. He is accused of killing Brenda Cuevas, 39, on Oct. 15. Authorities found her body inside a burning home early that morning but have not released a cause of death or a motive.

Hardin County Attorney Randy Tilton said Jess Cuevas was arrested after a "thorough investigation."

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and Eldora police conducted the arrest. The suspect's bond was set at $1 million, according to the Iowa Department of Public Safety.

Brenda Cuevas had served on the Hardin County Historical Society since January 2005.
