INDEPENDENCE - Lawrence F. "Larry" Miner, 73, of Rice Lake, Wis., formerly of Independence, died Sunday, March 4, at Lakeview Medical Center, Rice Lake, after a short illness.
He was born Sept. 6, 1933, in Cedar Rapids, son of Harold Leo Miner and Lucille Margaret Howe Miner. He married Eleanor Louise Morris Aug. 29, 1953, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.
Mr. Miner graduated from St. John's High School, Independence, in 1951. He served two years in the US Army as a helicopter mechanic and worked as an over-the-road truck driver for many years, retiring in 1995. He also managed the Buffalo Creek Golf Course in Winthrop for seven years.
Survived by: his wife; two sons, Larry P. (Marybeth) of Mankato, Minn., and Mike H. of Conway, Mo.; three daughters, JoAnn M. (Glenn) Hile of Shell Lake, Wis., Mary Margaret Miner (Gary Stenseth) of Rice Lake and Patricia E. (Jesse) Hayden, also of Shell Lake; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: a son, John.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John's Catholic Church, with burial in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, both in Independence. Public visitation after 2:30 p.m. Thursday at White Funeral Home, Independence, where there will be a 3 p.m. parish rosary, a 7 p.m. military memorial service and an 8 p.m. vigil service.
