WATERLOO - George O. Cooley, 84, of Waterloo, died Monday, Sept. 29, at Covenant Medical Center emergency room of natural causes.

He was born Jan. 23, 1924, in Oelwein, son of Lorentcheous and Minnie Hagar Cooley. He married Edith Mary Gardner on Nov. 21, 1943, in Randalia.

Mr. Cooley graduated from Randalia High School and attended Wartburg College, Waverly. He was employed with Prudential as a licensed life and health insurance agent, retiring in 1984.

Survived by: his wife: two sons, George (Cathy) of Waterloo and Steve (Darcy) of Coralville; three daughters, Patricia (Phil) Irwin of Scottsdale, Ariz., Dr. Linda Cooley of Muscatine and Susan (Kevin) Faes of Bettendorf; 12 grandchildren, Keith Irwin, Kevin Irwin, Collin Irwin, Crystal Irwin, Matt (Erin) Faes, Andy Faes, Dan Cooley, Abbi Cooley, Sam Cooley, Callie Cooley, Kaitlyn Cooley and Delaney Cooley; and two great-grandchildren, Katie and Alli Irwin.

Preceded in death by: three brothers, Earl, Lloyd and Kenneth; and a sister, Ilo Mae Severs.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Ansgar Lutheran Church, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
