WATERLOO - Lillian DeVries, 90, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center.
She was born Aug. 15, 1918, in Waverly, daughter of Abel and Annie Kratchmer Nieman. On Sept. 13, 1938, she married Ailt DeVries in Sisseton, S.D. He preceded her in death.
She graduated from Shell Rock High School and farmed with her husband around Shell Rock. In 1966 they moved to Waterloo and she went to work in the Allen Hospital Cafeteria, retiring in 1979.
She was a member of Bethany Chapel, Cedar Falls.
Survived by: a son, Robert (Julie) of Waterloo; four daughters, Joyce (David) Herrmeyer of Cedar Falls, Marlys (Larry) Christensen of Milan, Ill., Sharon (Duane) Johnson of Cedar Rapids and Sandra (Jim) Ede of Waterloo; 17 Grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: 10 brothers and sisters.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Shell Rock. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
