HAWKEYE - Clifford L. "Pete" Parker, 94, of Hawkeye, died Sunday, March 4, at Community Memorial Hospital, Sumner, of age-related causes.

He was born Sept. 4, 1912, in Hawkeye, son of Pierce and Lillian Gieseke Parker. He married Edith Robinson Aug. 17, 1938, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua.

He graduated from Hawkeye High School in 1930 and then attended Iowa State University and Upper Iowa University. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the European theater.

Mr. Parker worked at the Hawkeye Co-op for 30 years from the mill, to bookkeeper, to manager. He owned and managed Parker's Grocery with his wife for 11 years until retirement. He was also an assistant rural postal carrier and a member of the Hawkeye Volunteer Fire Department.

Survived by: his wife; three sons, Dr. Roger (Carolyn) of Cincinnati, Don (Carol) of Eau Claire, Wis., and Keith of Hawkeye; a daughter, Sgt. Janet Parker-Helbert of Nathrop, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Lloyd; two sisters, Mabel Ferrell and Ruth LaLone; and a son-in-law, Larry Helbert.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church, Hawkeye, with burial in the Hawkeye Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Arnold-Rogers Post No. 312, American Legion. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home, Hawkeye, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
