Karen Sue Baird Lamos 63, of Desert Hot Springs, Calif., formerly of La Porte City, passed away at home July 4, 2009. She had been in hospice for one week following radiation treatment for brain cancer.

Karen was born to Marion Dale and Marjorie Ruth (Calkins) Baird on Feb. 16, 1946. She graduated from La Porte High School in 1964. After graduation, Karen and her mother moved to California. She graduated from Covina Beautician College and was a beautician for several years.

Karen married Philip Brock in 1969. They had two children, Lisa and David. They later divorced, and she married John Lamos. They made their home at 69525 Dillon Road, No. 129, Desert Hot Springs, CA 92241.

Karen was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her husband; her children, Lisa Camerota of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., and David Brock of Dalton, Ga.; her mother, Marjorie of Rancho Cucamonga; two sisters, Mrs. Leroy (Betty) Laffler and Mrs. Roger (Judy) Meyer, both of Desert Hot Springs; two grandsons, one granddaughter; three stepchildren; four stepgrandsons; and three stepgranddaughters.

Graveside services will be in La Porte City at a later time.
