WATERLOO - Lou Anne Zimmerman, 79, of Lakview Landing of Friendship Village, died there Tuesday, Dec. 9.

She was born Oct. 12, 1929, in Bremen, Ohio, daughter of Chauncey and Irma Brasseur Leonard. She married Carl B. Zimmerman on June 30, 1956, in Bremen.

Mrs. Zimmerman graduated from Rushcreek Memorial High School, Bremen, received her bachelor's degree in education from Ohio University and master's degree in education from the University of Iowa. She taught first grade in Lakewood, Ohio, and at Kingsley Elementary School. She became assistant director of elementary education for the Waterloo Community School District, and then worked for AEA 7. She was former director and president of the Friends of the Waterloo Public Library and Friends of the Grout Museum District; past president of Kingsley Elementary School PTA; member of PEO, Delta Kappa Gamma, American Association of University Women and Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Survived by: her husband; a son, Charlie (Missy) of Washington, Ill.; two granddaughters, Paige and Corinne; a sister, Mary Lee Leonard, also of Washington; two nieces, three nephews and thier respective families.
