CHARLES CITY - Ivan John "Butch" Eggers, 61, of Langley, Okla., formerly of Charles City, died July 11 in Langley of natural causes.
He was born Nov. 27, 1944, in Charles City, son of Ivan and Lois Shrader Eggers. He married Marian Mitchell in 1981, and they later divorced.
He graduated from high school in Lyle, Minn., and served in the military during Vietnam. Mr. Eggers worked as a butcher, carpenter, sheet metal worker and a truck driver.
Survived by: a son, Brian of East Alton, Ill.; four grandchildren; two brothers, Lee (Berdine) Powers of Waterloo and Harry (Nora) Eggers of Parkersburg; three sisters, Joyce (Dave) Young of Lyle, Jean Hall of Rockford and Bonnie (Joe) Brooks of Marshall, Mo.; and a sister-in-law, Marie Powers of Rockford, Mich.
Preceded in death by: his parents; a brother, George; a sister-in-law, Mary; and a brother-in-law, Donald.
Memorial services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Parkersburg United Methodist Church, with inurnment and military rites in Hillside Cemetery, Marble Rock.
