Ms. Evelyn Jean Kay (McGee), formerly of Waterloo, passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, in Hutto, Texas.
She was born Aug. 15, 1931, in Fort Madison. She was the daughter of J.C. and Ollie McGee. She married James Richard Kay and they were later divorced. She was employed by Oster for 20 years; was part owner of Mrs. Beasley's Tea Room and Gift Shop for nine years, and was employed by Consumer Credit Counseling for seven years.
Survivors include, Tim Kay and Mark Kay, daughter-in-law, Columba Kay of Austin, Texas, Sharon Kay of Hutto and Karen and Mark Sabin of McCall, Idaho; two sisters, Colleen Dunham of Chillicothe, Ill., and Cynthia Jackson (Mrs. Paul Jackson) of Yuma, Ariz.; and Bill Roder of Waterloo, adopted son.
In Texas, she has two grandsons, Alexander Osborne of Houston and Austin Kay of Hutto; and granddaughter, Valentina Murillo of Austin. In Iowa, several other nieces and nephews.
Ms. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Thoma Jeen, and son, Jeffrey Richard.

A memorial service for Ms. Kay took place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at Beck Funeral Home, 4765 Priem Lane, Pflugerville, Texas 78660; (512) 251-3500.
