Rev. Tori Rae Randall (1960-2009)
REINBECK -Rev. Tori Rae Randall, 48, of Amherst, Va., formerly of Reinbeck and Dysart, died Jan. 9 of cancer.
She was born Oct. 6, 1960, in Cedar Rapids, daughter of Collin and Shirley Switzer Randall.
The Rev. Randall graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1979 and continued her education at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, graduating with the class of 1983/1984 with a bachelor's degree in pre-Law and sociology. She worked at Bremwood Home for Children, Waverly, for six years. She then attended American Institute of Commerce, Cedar Falls, where she obtained her legal assistant and paralegal diploma. She then moved to Minneapolis where she worked as paralegal in a law firm. She moved to Richmond, Va., where she helped a friend open a computer shop. Later she took a job for the Virginia Tech University where she did hybridization work. She entered the ministry and attended Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education, graduating in 2007. On July 1, 2007, she began her ministry with the Mount Pleasant Charge in Virginia and served the communities of Mount Pleasant, Mount Horeb and Ivy Hill.
Survived by: her parents of Janesville; a brother, Tote (Susan) Randall of Ames; a sister, Tonya (Bret) Evenson of Denver, Iowa; two nieces and three nephews
Graveside services: 2 p.m. April 21 Tuesday at Dysart Cemetery, preceded by an hour of visitation at Overton Funeral Home, Dysart.
Memorials: may be directed to the local Humane Society.
