CEDAR FALLS - Russell Wolff was born the son of Albert and Matilda (Krogh) Wolff on October 18, 1925. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1944. On September 26, 1948, he was united in marriage with Mary Miller, daughter of Orville and Mildred (Denhart) Miller.
Russ worked for Wagner Manufacturing, Viking Pump, John Deere and Schoitz Engineering. He retired from Schoitz in 1990. Following retirement, Russ devoted a lot of time to his church, Nazareth Lutheran, of which he has been a member for 83 years. He also loved to bake cookies and work in his workshop making gifts for others. Russ was a member of Cedar Falls American Legion No. 236, Cedar Falls AMVETS Post No. 49, Cedar Valley Woodworkers, Cedar Falls Historical Society and a Master Mason in Black Hawk Lodge No. 65 AF & AM.
Russ is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary, and their three children, Pat (Jim) of Waverly, Kathie (Ray Brock) of Omaha, NE, and Tom (Colleen) of Walker; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Don (Bonnie) of Phoenix, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Matilda, and siblings Edna Pedersen Christensen, Roger Wolff and Emma Thode.
Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 1, 2008 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, with interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Richardson Funeral Home in Cedar Falls and one hour prior to the services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Christian Crusaders or Shriners Hospital for Children, Twin Cities Unit, 2025 E. River Rd., Minneapolis, MN 55414.
