WAVERLY - Gordon Edwin Zurbriggen, 84, of Waverly, died Friday, Jan. 2, at his home.
He was born Sept. 30, 1924, on a farm near Randalia, son of Mattia and Marguerite Zurbriggen. He married Lucille Clara Morf on Dec. 23, 1945, in Waverly.
He graduated from Sumner High School in 1942 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Zurbriggen was a sales clerk at J.S. Latta & Son. in Cedar Falls, later becoming president of Lattas and then executive vice president with W. R. Grace Corp. in New York, NY.
In 1978 he returned to Cedar Falls to open Z's Seven Seas, Waterloo.
Survived by: his wife; a daughter, Susan (Tom) Taiber of Waverly; a son, David (Teresa) of San Antonio; a sister, Elaine Kenney of West Union; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: a sister, Eda Weibel; a brother, Paul; a brother-in-law, William Weibel; and a sister-in-law, Helen Zurbriggen.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, with cemation to follow. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly.
Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Self Help International in Waverly.
