EVANSDALE - Gregory Charles Everett, 68, of Evansdale died at his home on October 3, 2008. He was born on January 17, 1940 in Wadena, son of Cecil "Zeke" and Etta (Johnson) Everett. He grew up in Wadena and graduated from Wadena High in 1957. Greg then went to college at Upper Iowa University and received an Associates Degree in Electronics from Ellsworth Community College. Greg worked for 30 years in System Support and as a Marketing Representative for IBM Corporation, retiring in 1993. In 1959, Greg was united in marriage to Bernice Duffy, the couple later divorced. On January 2, 1993, Greg married Diane Greeves. The couple started their own company called Bagels & More in Waterloo and Cedar Falls, retiring after eight years.
Greg was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, carpentry, craftsmanship, bowling and he was a life-long learner. During the summer, he loved going to their home on Big Sand Lake near Webster, WI. Greg was a past president of the Waterloo Men's Bowling Association and Classic League, was involved with Black Hawk Archers, was an assistant coach for the Denver High School bowling team, was a Hall of Fame Honoree of the Greater Cedar Valley Bowling Association and was on the curriculum committee of the Institute for Learning after Fifty. Greg will be missed dearly by those who knew him.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lt. Commander Lauren Everett; and a granddaughter, Katie Sue Everett. He is survived by his wife, Diane; six combined children, Jim (Phillena) Everett of Jesup, LuAnn (Mark) Bohan of Mosinee, WI, Jerry (Dawn) Everett of Ames, David (Marion) Greeves of Berlin, Germany, Samarah Greeves of Chicago and Tim Greeves of Chicago; and seven combined grandchildren, Sgt. Blake Everett, Shawn Bohan, Gregory Everett, Johnathan Everett, Alexis Everett, Leo-David Greeves and Hanna Greeves.
Celebration of life services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, with burial at a later date. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
