All artists, artisans and crafters called to summer garden show

Artists, artisans and crafters are being sought for the first-ever Gardens in Bloom garden show.

The event takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 7 at the Cedar Valley Arboretum and Botanic Garden, presented by The Courier.

Individuals who incorporate garden and nature themes and/or materials into their work, as well as those who create work that can be used, worn or displayed in the garden or home are wanted.

Participants will display and sell their works and wares in the Garden Bazaar, a tent set in the garden.

Categories for booths include (but are not limited to): garden/nature photography, painting, pastels, etc.; hand-painted birdhouses and decorative pots and containers; bird baths; stepping stones; garden ornaments and stakes; garden statuary; metal sculptures, trellises; wind chimes; outdoor chandeliers; home accessories with horticultural themes or function, such as decorative pillows, quilts and throws; jewelry.

Individuals (noncommercial vendors) interested in selling plant material, such as cut flowers, herbs, plants, bulbs, dried flowers, decorative wreaths, Iowa products such as soy candles, garden-related antiques, such as tin signs, containers, etc. are welcome.

Large-scale exhibitors and vendors, businesses and services also will have display space during the Garden Show. These exhibitions are expected to include: lawn care professionals, landscape design firms, lawn and garden equipment, outdoor lighting, outdoor kitchens, outdoor sound systems, firepits and outdoor fireplaces, patio and outdoor furniture, barbecue grills, garden carts, greenhouses, sheds and sunrooms.

Also gazebos, decks/patio builders, retaining walls/hardscaping, large-scale outdoor ornaments, water features such as fountains, ponds and water gardening equipment, spas and hot tubs and swimming pools, etc.
