"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world; indeed it's the only thing that ever has."
- Margaret Mead
In the Cedar Valley the volunteer is valued, which is why the Volunteer Center recently honored outstanding volunteers in the Cedar Valley at last week's Mayors' Volunteer Awards luncheon. This volunteer recognition program was founded 31 years ago by the Junior League of Waterloo-Cedar Falls, widely known for skillfully training volunteers and preparing hundreds of women to be effective and committed volunteer leaders in our community.
No list can show all that volunteers do for a community, and it is impossible to imagine how these tasks would be accomplished without them. For this reason, the sustaining members of the Junior League of Waterloo/Cedar Falls enthusiastically welcomed new members into Junior League by hosting a "going active" celebration April 30. Any woman wishing to become a member of the organization should call the League office at (319) 232-8687. The next training class begins in September.
