WATERLOO - Murle Ralston of Granger, formerly of Waterloo, will celebrate her 99th birthday on May 22, 2008.

She was born May 22, 1909, to David and Rachel Cherry. She grew up in Waterloo with her three sisters, Genevieve, Blossom and Waival. She married Richard Ralston on June 10, 1934, at Central Christian Church in Waterloo. He passed away in 1964. She is the daughter-in-law of John G. and Gertrude Verharen Ralston.

She was a homemaker, and also worked in the drapery department at Black's Department Store, and later cared for a total of 15 children in her home, and in theirs, for many years. While living in Waterloo she was a long-time member of Central Christian Church, before moving to the Des Moines area in 1977.

Her children are Marie Brown of Waterloo, JoDene and Rick Rowedder of Granger; and Joyce Rushton, deceased. She has six grandchildren, Jeff and Cheryl Brown of Hudson, Joanna Brown of Waterloo, Todd and Penny Brown of Ankeny, Ben and Kris Brown of Ohio, Gretchen Brown, also of Waterloo, and Steven and Shari Rushton. She has 11 great-grandchildren.
