Barbara Jirak celebrated her 80th birthday on Jan. 7.

She married Jim Jirak on Sept. 14, 1949, and they have been married for 58 years.

Her children and their spouses are Joan and Alvin Bakley of Tuthill, S.D., Joyce (deceased) and Richard Uhlenhake of Ossian, Jane and Roger Gilb of Lakeville, Minn., Janet and Melvin Bodensteiner of West Union, and Jerry and Gayle of Waucoma. She has 22 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
