CEDAR FALLS -- The Cedar Falls Texas Roadhouse reopens its doors today in its new location, 5815 University Ave., in the Black Hawk Village shopping area.
It previously was located in College Square Mall.
The restaurant has also announced a community partnership for its Habitat-for-Humanity Homes-in a-Box program. It is partnering with Scott's Electric, Starbucks and KWWL-TV. Together, the organizations will complete fundraising and collect enough supplies to build two homes, one for a Gulf Coast family who lost their home in Hurricane Katrina and another for a Cedar Falls family.
To date, about $30,000 has been raised toward the $50,000 goal. Supplies needed include lumber, doors, windows, insulation, paint, siding, fencing, trim and other hardware. To donate supplies, individuals and businesses can contact the restaurant at (319) 266-3200. All household materials are needed -- from the mailbox to shower curtain rods.
When the fundraising is complete and supplies are collected, community volunteers will frame, outfit and load the two 1,100 square-foot homes onto tractor trailers. When the homes' foundations are ready, the houses will be completed on their permanent land.
Based in Louisville, Ky., Texas Roadhouse opened its doors in 1993. In just 14 years, the company has grown to more than 270 locations in 44 states.
