DES MOINES - Two Iowa civic leaders have been tapped to coordinate private fundraising efforts for storm and flood relief and rebuilding, Iowa Gov. Chet Culver announced Thursday.
Barry Griswell, chairman of the Principal Financial Group, and Fred Hubbell, former chairman, president and CEO of Equitable of Iowa Companies will lead the effort.
"With so much desire to help comes the need for coordination to ensure private fundraising is going where it is needed most, as efficiently as possible," Culver said in a statement. "I cannot think of two leaders better qualified to help lead this very important task than my friends Barry Griswell and Fred Hubbell, and I am honored they are willing to serve."
Hubbell currently serves as chairman of the Iowa Power Fund Board, a state entity created to develop renewable energy sources. Griswell is the incoming president of the Greater Des Moines Community Foundation.
