WATERLOO -- The 15th annual National Bereavement Teleconference, hosted by Cedar Valley Hospice and Allen College and locally sponsored by Hagarty Waychoff Grarup Funeral Services, will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday in Allen College's Gerard Hall.
This year's teleconference topic is "Living with Grief: Children and Adolescents." The teleconference will focus on the experience of grieving children and adolescents and the ways that all professionals, educators, counselors, parents, social workers, physicians, funeral directors and clergy can best support these populations as they cope with loss and grief.
A local panel discussion will follow the broadcast at 3:30 p.m. The local panel includes moderator Ann Kerian of Ann Kerian: Consulting and Coaching LLC; Jennifer Alexander, Hansen Elementary School counselor; Abbie Chalupnik, Cedar Valley Hospice youth counselor; Nick Evans, Cedar Valley Hospice board president and president of Porta-Vet; and Samantha Frost, Columbus High School student and Cedar Valley Hospice volunteer.
Continuing education units will be offered for a $25 fee. Those interested in receiving credit should bring a check payable to Cedar Valley Hospice the day of the teleconference. Attendance certificates will also be available.
The teleconference is free and open to the public; pre-registration is required. Light refreshments will be served. To pre-register, or for more information, contact Chris Olds at colds@cvhospice.org or 272-2002.
