LEXINGTON, Ky. - Nancy Green, vice president of circulation for Lee Enterprises Inc. and publisher of the Courier, was inducted into the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame during an induction luncheon held Tuesday at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Lexington.
Green, a native of Lexington, is a graduate of the University of Kentucky School of Journalism and served 11 years as adviser for the UK student-run newspaper, The Kentucky Kernel.
During her acceptance speech, Green said her time spent at the Kernel has continued to impact her life and the skills she learned during her tenure, she still uses today in her position as publisher. She called her inclusion in the Hall of Fame "the highlight of my career. It is a privilege to be inducted."
Green said her inclusion in the Hall of Fame is an honor and said she was "humbled to be added to an impressive list" of past inductees.
She reminded local newspapers of the special responsibility they have to the communities they cover including "giving voice to those who sometimes go unheard and unnoticed."
