Inquiry into emergency landing near Greene
GREENE (AP) — The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating an emergency landing of a small airplane near Greene in northern Iowa.

The single-engine Cessna-150 landed in a farm field on Dec. 31.

The pilot, 18-year-old Kevin Brown of Greene, says the engine seized at about 1,000 feet. He tried unsuccessfully to restart the engine in mid-air, then found the field and landed.

The plane was damaged but Brown and a passenger only suffered bumps and bruises.

The plane was a rental from the Waverly Airport.

" Wow this kid was only 18 and had the skills to successfully land this plane after the engine seized up. That takes some nerve. Good job! "
