3 hurt in bus crash on I-235 in Des Moines
DES MOINES (AP) — Police blame a driver who lost control of his vehicle for an early-morning bus crash on Interstate 235 on Friday morning.

Three people, who have not yet been identified, were taken to Des Moines hospitals after the crash.

Police say both vehicles were westbound when the car’s driver lost control and struck the right rear corner of the bus.

Des Moines police officer Richard Glade said the crash sparked a small fire when the left front end of the bus hit the concrete median. Glade said the fire was extinguish soon after the crash.

Police and emergency crews responded to the crash just before 6 a.m. Authorities say a Greyhound bus apparently hit the median.

Two people were taken to Iowa Methodist Medical Center and one was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Traffic on I-235 was slowed by lane closures but opened up by 8:30 a.m.

According to weather reports, road conditions are considered wet but not icy.
