UPDATE: Delivery driver hurt in fiery Waterloo crash
WATERLOO — A delivery driver was transported to University Hospitals in Iowa City after a fiery two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Ansborough Avenue and Sergeant Road (Highway 63) early today.

Police say Michal McBride, 33, of Hartford, was delivering papers for The Des Moines Register. He was taken to a Waterloo hospital then flown to University Hospitals in Iowa City.

The accident took place about 1 a.m.

Waterloo police said when they arrived they found the van had rear-ended a semi-tractor trailer. The van was engulfed in flames. The driver of the van needed to be extricated. He was first taken to Covenant Medical Center and then transferred to Iowa city with major injuries, police said.

The semi driver was identified as 39-year-old Robert Andrews of Bellevue, Neb., was treated at Covenant and later released with minor injuries.
