Arraignment set for Michelle Kehoe
IOWA CITY (AP) — A Coralville woman will be arraigned on Dec. 2 on charges she killed her 2-year-old son and attempted to kill her 7-year-old son.

Michelle Kehoe is expected to enter a plea at the hearing. The 35-year-old faces charges of first-degree murder, attempt to commit murder and child endangerment resulting in serious injury.

Kehoe is in custody at the Buchanan County jail on a $2.5 million bond.

According to police, on Oct. 26 Kehoe told her husband she was taking her sons, Seth, and Sean, to visit relatives in Sumner. They never arrived, and police allege Kehoe drove her sons to a pond near Littleton and bound them with duct tape before cutting their throats.

Sean Kehoe and the body of Seth Kehoe were not found until the next day.

" Okay, here's the questions everyone wants answered. "If you hated life so much, why did you feel you had to try and kill your boys? Can't you just have killed yourself and be done with it?" "

" I don't know why she couldn't just walk away. Why if she was so unhappy in her life, marriage, being a mom etc... Why she didn't just walk away from everything and be done with it. Why did she have to take her frustations out on poor children. What did they do to deserve this kind of treatment. Sean will have to over come this, (if he can) and learn to live with this the rest of his lives. It's horrible when something like this happens to a child. But let alone at the hands of his own mother. God, I just don't know how this family is dealing with it.
I am just afraid she will get off with this for mental reasons and be walking the streets in a few years. That is the part that scares me the most. "
