Michelle Kehoe hearing next week likely to be canceled
INDEPENDENCE — A hearing next week for a Coralville woman accused of killing her 2-year-old son and injuring another son likely will be canceled.

Michelle Kehoe is charged of first-degree murder, attempted murder and child endangerment resulting in serious injury. Kehoe is accused of taping her sons’ eyes closed and cutting their necks with a knife near a remote pond outside of Littleton on Oct. 26. Two-year-old Seth died. Sean, her 7-year-old, is recovering from his wounds.

Kehoe was arrested Saturday and transported to the Buchanan County Jail after she was released from the University of Iowa Hospitals.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 25. The hearing is used by judges to determine if there enough evidence to present formal charges against a defendant. The hearing will be canceled if prosecutors file written trial information, which includes the same evidence, for the judge, said County Attorney Allan Vander Hart said.

Vander Hart said he plans on filing trial information soon.

Kehoe is being held on a $2.5 million bond. No formal trial date has been scheduled.

" I am starting to get a wierd feeling about this case in general. They are filing trial information instead of going to the appearence.
I am begining to wonder if there is going to be a trial at all. I hope she just pleads guilty. Things are not going as they normally would in a case like this. We will just have to sit back and wait and see what happens.
Right now, it just seems fishy is all. "

" I agree. After hours hearings...canceling court dates...going straight to filing court papers...HMMMMMM...strange. She already said she did it. Is she pleading guilty then or are the (deleted) public defenders going to waste OUR taxpayer dollars on trying t go with the BS that it was poastpartum depression. I haven't read or heard anything as to what she is going to plead. Have you? "
