Man sought for shooting at and fleeing deputies in Clayton Co.

GUTTENBERG — Authorities are looking for a Clayton County man they said shot at a sheriff’s deputy Tuesday and led them on a high-speed pursuit.

Deputies were called out to a home southwest of Guttenberg around 5 a.m. for a report of someone shooting at cars. Michael Douglas Billingsley, 23, allegedly began firing on deputies with a rifle shortly after they arrived, according to the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office. He then jumped in a vehicle and led deputies on a chase, which ended on Omega Road near Millville. Billingsley then fled on foot. Sheriff’s deputies haven’t located him yet. No one was injured in the incident.

Billingsley is wanted on a warrant for possession of a firearm as a felon, intimidation with a dangerous weapon and reckless use of a firearm, the sheriff’s office said. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office at (563) 245-2422.
