Grace Niehaus (1909-2008)
CLARKSVILLE — Grace Niehaus, 99, of Clarksville, died Sunday, Aug. 24, at Community Nursing Home, Clarksville, of natural causes.

She was born July 13, 1909, near Clarksville in Butler County, daughter of Phillip and Anna Henrichs Hoodjer. She married Carl Niehaus on Feb. 20, 1934, at Evangelical Lutheran Church, Butler Center. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Niehaus and her husband farmed near Greene until 1965, and she was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Clarksville.

Survived by: five sons, Dean (Carol) of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Darwin (Sharon) of Greene, Ron (Jill) of Pleasant Hill, Charles (Marilyn) of Clarksville and Dennis (Jeanette) of Nora Springs; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Flora DeWitt of Clarksville and Phyllis Voss of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by: a son, Marlin; two sisters, Anne DeWitt and Tina Bruns; and a great-grandson.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church, with burial in Lynwood Cemetery, both in Clarksville. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Clarksville, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
