Flood water forces Chelsea polling site move

DES MOINES --- Secretary of State Michael Mauro announces today that inclement weather has caused polling places in some counties to change locations. Hamilton, Jasper, Polk and Tama counties have already made changes to polling place locations. The polling places will still be open from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Due to flooding in Tama County, the polling place for Richland/Salt Creek Precinct has been relocated to the Tama Civic Center. The City of Chelsea is cut off by floodwater, and traffic is not allowed in or out.

If additional changes are made in polling place locations, Secretary Mauro stated that the Secretary of State’s Office will keep an updated list of changes in polling place locations on the front page of its website at www.sos.state.ia.us.
