Life moves pretty fast. You don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. – Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

On a lighter note, had a great day at the Wartburg Booster Club Golf Outing. My good buddy Mark Adkins invited me up to play at Centennial Oaks in Waverly — what a great golf course. I hit a few good shots and had a great time overall. Thanks again Mark.

Football season is approaching fast with Iowa media day today … but I’m leaving for Disney World with my family Friday night, so College football will have to take a backseat to my kids Alexis and Talan who are really looking forward to meeting Cinderella and Mickey Mouse.

From USA Wrestling

TEHRAN, Iran – 2008 University World champion Tervel Dlagnev (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Sunkist Kids) won a bronze medal match at 120 kg/264.5 lbs. on the final day of the 2009 Takhti Cup.

Dlagnev defeated Ahmad Rasouli of Iran, 2-0, 2-1 in the bronze medal match.

“Tervel hit a nice low single, stood up and came behind for the first takedown. Rasouli tried to shoot in on him late in the period and Tervel got behind him for the second point. In the second period, he got arm-spinned, and Rasouli led 1-0. Tervel got a leg attack, brought it to a double leg, split him and took him to his back for two points and the win,” said National Teams Director Mitch Hull.

The three other U.S. wrestlers who competed on Friday were unable to qualify for the medal rounds.

The U.S. won two bronze medals at the Takhti Cup this year. Mike Tamillow (Colorado Springs, Colo./unattached) captured a bronze medal at 96 kg/211.5 lbs. on Thursday.

The United States placed third in the team standings, behind the champion team from Iran and the runner-up team from Russia.
